Okay, so I saw that this rp stable had a thing with Friesian horses. Well. What a coincidence. I take care of a horse, she's not mine but I can do whatever I want with her. (Sorta. I do need the owners permission to do things but basically I can do everything with her.)
And well, I thought that you might want to see some pics.
Meiske (roughly translated: Lady) is a Friesian mare, 13 years old and she is the worst when she has her days. (I am not sure what the terms are in English. I don't think you call it 'stallion 'ig'' :') )
She is able to pull a cart, she does some dressage things but since I have this thing with riding a horse tackless (or at least without a bit) I'm doing that with her. Dressage is not my cup of tea.
This is her butt.
Her lovely face.
This is half a year ago, before I started riding her without a bit.
This was two months ago, the first time I decided that I'd only ride her with a neckrope. I'm in a pen so if she spooks, she won't be able to run away.
On a good day, she'll listen to me when I'm riding her with a neckrope. On a bad day she'll be the devil herself. On those days she doesn't pay attention to me and riding her is a bad idea. But when she is 'seeing' me, reacting to me, I can do whatever I want. Ofcourse, I'm still learning and she's a great teacher. Every time when I ask her to do something, she reminds me that I need to ask it as quietly as possible. No 'harsh' movements but the smallest aids are the things she responds to. It's really amazing, since another girl that rides her is using spurs and a bit and I'm like 'well, if she's not responding, putting a metal bit in her mouth isn't going to change that'. (Not saying that bits are bad, but for her it's not the thing that changes the situation.)
Only thing with her is that when you're not the leader and you're old enough to 'understand', I won't trust you with her. Someone unbalanced and having no clue how to work with a horse will have a hard time. But I think that she'll be the most gentle horse for little children. Because she knows who's on her back.
I'm so glad that she came in my life and that I can trust her. She's still a horse ofcourse but god, she's so cool and she makes me calm and happy. If I'm not calm I can't work with her and she teaches me that every time.
So yeah. That's Meiske. She's amazing. If I ever get a horse myself, I'll definitely buy a Friesian. Magical creature that she is.
