Tall, dark and handsome pretty much describe Kai to a T. Kai stands at a little over six feet and is well toned from years of martial arts training. With brown hair and brown eyes; Tommy isn't a stranger to the puppy-dog look if he thinks that it will help his case. He is normally seen wearing jeans and a shirt - he's not a fan of t-shirts - though a polo shirt will do for mucking around the barn. He will pick boots over shoes any day, though he knows how to dress up if the situation calls for it.

Self-assured and cocky, Kai knows that the world is his oyster. Growing up in a privileged lifestyle, he has gotten used to getting his own way, even if that means paying his way through life, he'll do it.

While he's not against doing hard work, Kai much prefers to be the supervisor. As he doesn't see the point in getting his hands dirty when he can employ others to do it for him. 

Kai is the only child of Margret and Edward Beringer, in Manchester England, and he never understood why his parents didn't choose to have any other children. They were well off and lived in a pretty decent sized house so money or room was never an issue.

Although he knew his parents loved him dearly, his mother was one of those people who didn't like getting her hands dirty so she left his upbringing to the nanny and then the school matrons, as he was sent to boarding schools, going home in the weekends so his parents to show him off to their friends. Yes, it sounds horrible, but Kai loved the attention he got in the weekends.

As well as school, he became very serious about riding, though he was forbidden from ever playing polo, as his mother though it would look bad on them if he so much as broke his nose and disfigured his face, so he became an accomplished eventer.

When he started high school, things changed and he started hanging out with the wrong kind of boys at school and his father thought it was in his best interest to go and spend some time with his aunt and uncle in the United States, and he was put on a plane and sent half way across the world to live with family he'd never met before.

School was a chore and since there was a summer horse camp near by, the adults decided this would be the best way to keep their nephew out of trouble and even said that there could be a chance that he could take the horses they had bought him upon his arrival in Champlain, New York.
